Jonathan Toews has been the centerpiece and a mainstay for the Blackhawks since his first season with the Blackhawks in 2007-2008. Now in the last year of his contract and with the Blackhawks primed to finish last in the league, Toews may find himself wearing a new sweater by the trade deadline.
Rumors swirled last summer about his future in Chicago after Kyle Davidson's draft day blowup of the roster. Toews recently sat down and discussed his future in Chicago in an interview and made some interesting comments about the direction he may go in.
Toews ultimately has the final say in what happens on a potential trade front given his no movement clause. It sounds like Toews has opened up to the idea of a trade out of Chicago. The Blackhawks are in full tank mode and at 34 years old, Toews is on the home stretch of his career. It'll be interesting to see what Toews decides to do, but I would start preparing ourselves for the possibility of Toews moving on.
