In the next days, the Seattle Kraken must make a major decision about Shane Wright, the fourth overall pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
After the end of the World Junior Championship on January 5th, the Seattle Kraken must decide whether to keep him in the NHL or return him to his OHL team, the Kingston Frontenacs.
Wright will probably be sent to the OHL, according to NHL scout Grant McKagg. The Kingston Frontenacs are in a bad spot in the standings and will be offloading players, including Wright, and sending them off to contenders.
Grant McKagg, a former NHL scout, said the following:
''The expectation is that Kingston will trade Wright's rights sometime between now and the end of the WJC. Might he be going to the Ottawa 67s? Stay tuned.''
Wright has three goals and two assists in three World Juniors games this year, but he hasn't displayed any promising NHL-caliber performance.
