Milestone moments can be found anywhere throughout your life. Sometimes you experience them on your own, and sometimes you get to share them with loved ones. But when it's a first - word, step, day of school, etc - more often than not, parents can be found at the scene, as well. And usually in tears.
Such was the case for Shane Wright's first NHL game as a member of the Seattle Kraken. The 18 year old, Burlington, Canada native had several firsts last night - not the least of which was his first big NHL hit. No, he wasn't the one doing the hitting. He was was crunched into the boards by Ivan Barbashev. But, the rookie bounced right back up, ready to play. His teammate, Ryan Donato, on the other hand, took offense to the hit and went after Barbashev, himself. Wright repaid the kindness in the second period, by giving Donato an assist, putting the Kraken within one goal of tying the Blues.

So, his first NHL game, his first big hit, his first assist, his first NHL point, also made him the first 18 year old and member of the 2022 Draft Class to get a point, this season.

Any one of those things (save the hit) would make a parent proud. Put them all together, and you get wholesome hockey content.

Even though the Kraken ended up losing, they forced the Blues into OT, and Shane Wright was an active part of that. I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot more firsts, and seconds, and thirds from this kid throughout the entire season.
