In a fantastic tribute to former Blackhawks goalie and NHL legend Eddie Belfour, the World Juniors Team Canada debuted this beautiful goalie set-up on Benjamin Gaudreau:
Belfour started playing with the Blackhawks in their 1990 post-season. They kept him on as a starter for the next season, and he stayed until he was traded to San Jose in January of 1997. «Eddie the Eagle» was inducted into the NHL Hall of Fame in 2011, the first year he was eligible.
Coincidentally, Benjamin Gaudreau was selected in round 3 of the 2021 draft by the San Jose Sharks.
Canada plays their final pre-tournament game against Finland, tonight. They won their first two against Switzerland and Slovakia, 6-0 and 6-1, respectively.
