The expectations surrounding Connor Bedard becoming an elite superstar in this league were no surprise to the NHL fanbase, pundits around the league, and general managers. Every NHL team would have loved to land this young man; however, only one team can do it.
The Blackhawks are already beginning to witness what the Bedard era will look like as he showcases his God-given talents and ability to make plays. According to Ben Pope, who tweeted about it, Ryan Donato explained the surprising abilities that Bedard possesses, especially when
they least expect it. Teammates revealed how difficult it was to keep up with Connor Bedard, as he's so skilled.
Ryan Donato said the Blackhawks are adjusting to Connor Bedard's ability to not just unleash crazy shots but also make passes they don't expect him to make.
"He keeps on finding guys and giving them opportunities when they're not really ready for it yet. He's catching guys off-guard. He's a playmaker, too."
Of course, Bedard will make the team this year, as his talent level is too exceptional to return to junior hockey. The Blackhawks are eager to turn the page on the previous core and embark on a new era led by the North Vancouver native.
It remains to be seen how well he will perform this season since the Blackhawks are far from complete and will likely remain a lottery-pick team going into the next offseason. Nevertheless, it is expected that he will contend, if not win, the Calder Trophy as the Rookie of the Year this season.
