The Hockey Community is Hit With Another Tragic Death, Third This Week
The hockey community feels almost cursed this offseason due to the amount of passings, from Hall of Famers to longtime players all the way to prospects who are stars in the making, the community has endured a lot.
The IIHF (International Ice Hockey Federation) announced on Thursday that Aditya Rama Putra has passed away at the age of 37, and his cause of death has not been released.
Putra represented his country and put them on the map for hockey dating back to 2016 on the Indonesian National Ice Hockey team since they were founded, including the 2017 Winter Games held in Asia alongside the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey Challenge Cup of Asia.
The IIHF has released the following statement:
In a statement, the IIHF said: "Rama left a legacy of commitment and determination to become a better player. He was also an idol for the younger generation. A lot of young kids would come to the rink just to have an opportunity to watch him and the team practice, so they can learn how to be like him, who is considered as one of the best player Indonesia has ever had. His character that full of fun and his humble personality would always be something to be missed from the whole organization and anyone who had the opportunity to know him."
Putra was just weeks away from meeting up with his teammates for training camp, in preperation for the IIHF World Championship which will be taking place this spring.
We send our thoughts and prayers to the friends, family and loved ones of Putra.
