Bedard adds Stars defenseman to his list of favorite NHL players
Connor Bedard has found a favorite NHL player in Dallas Stars defenseman, Chris Tanev.
Bedard complimented the defenseman before the bout between the Blackhawks and Stars on April 6th.
The match last night was a battle between the Stars who have already clinched a playoff spot, and the Blackhawks who have already been mathematically eliminated. The Stars wanted to win, to stay consistent, but were unable to.
Bedard was interviewed by The Athletic's Mark Lazerus and Julien McKenzie, and he expressed his admiration for Tanev's tenacity.
He just ate pucks. He'd put his face in front of it, if he needed to, every night. So I had a lot of respect for him, just watching the way he played. I liked the Sedins and everything, but I thought it was pretty cool what (Tanev) did. When you watch a team all the time like that, I think you notice guys like that more.»
Tanev would reciprocate the young forward's appreciation for him and would compliment his game.
«It's pretty cool to have a guy who's that good of a player and, obviously, going to be an incredible player for so long in the league to think that of you.»
Tanev seemed to be humbled, as Bedard's remarks about him ending up as Bedard's favorite player, he would reply:
«You don't really think of that stuff when you're playing. But once in a while, it's nice just to hear that from people.»
It's unexpected to all of us that Tanev was Bedard's favorite player, but you can't be see what he admires in Tanev's game.
