Former WWE Champion Loses Courageous Battle Against illness At Age 63
Former WWE Champion, Sid Vicious has passed away at age 63 after battling cancer.
His son Gunnar, shared the tragic news that his father has struggled to beat cancer but unfortunately succumbed.
"He was a man of strength, kindness, and love, and his presence will be greatly missed," Gunnar said in a statement.
"We appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we grieve this loss."
Sid Vicious was beloved by many in the wrestling world, as he affected many fans, friends, and promotions that he was a part of in WWE, ECW, and WCW.
The wrestling world would share their condolences and express their grief for Gunnar and his family's loss:
Sid Vicious was his stage name but his real name was Sid Eudy, and was known for his massive size and power bombs. He set the world afire through his reign of terror through three major promotions and was known for his love of softball.
«One of the most brutal Superstars to ever terrorize W.W.E., the sadistic Sid brought an intensity that few could ever hope to contain,» the organization wrote. «Just ask the litany of ring legends who have incurred his wrath - a hit list that includes Shawn Michaels,
Hulk Hogan, Bret ''Hit Man'' Hart and many more.»
He was a two-time WWF, WCW, and two-time USWA Champion during his wrestling career.
He took on such powerful figures in the wrestling world, such as the Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, and Ric Flair, and debuted in the ECW at 1999's "Guilty As Charged" PPV.
Prior to the late 90s, his emergence in the wrestling world began in the then WWF taking part in main events in Wrestlemania VIII and Wrestlemania XI.
Sid would take on many stage names during his career, including Sid Justice, Psycho Sid Vicious, and Sycho Sid. While not a man of many moves, was known for his promos, and his brutality in the ring.
He would conclude his career in 2017 with a match against Paul Rosenberg in the Great North Wrestling promotion.
Of course, he would face many stumbles along the way including suffering a major injury during a WCW PPV in 2001, but despite his numerous shoulder, back, and knee issues he'd persist.
He was known as a family man and leaves behind his wife Sabrina Paige, and two sons Frank and Gunnar. He also loved to take time off to enjoy his favorite sport, softball, which he was notorious for.
We offer our deepest condolences to the Eudy family in this difficult time.
