Alex DeBrincat's Former Teammate Expose His True Colours With Rude Message
Alex DeBrincat, now a Detroit Red Wings forward, recently made a ceremonial first pitch appearance at a Detroit Tigers game. However, it's clear that not everyone in Ottawa is cheering for him.
DeBrincat's move to Detroit came after it became apparent that he had no intentions of signing a new contract to stay with the Ottawa Senators. In an alternate scenario, he would have become an unrestricted free agent after the 2023-24 NHL season. Instead, he signed a four-year, $31-million contract extension with the Red Wings.
"It's a good spot for me," DeBrincat explained about his move to Detroit. "Been moving around a lot, so it's nice to have that security for four years, for us and my family. It's nice that we don't have to leave home to go play. I think it was just a great fit for every aspect of our lives."
However, not everyone in Ottawa shares his sentiment.
Senators forward Tim Stutzle expressed his views on players seeking ways out of Ottawa, saying,
"If he doesn't want to be there, then good luck on your way."
Additionally, there were reports suggesting that DeBrincat's desire to leave Ottawa was influenced by not wanting to play on the second line behind Senators captain Brady Tkachuk. This decision has stirred controversy, especially given DeBrincat's impressive track record.
The fallout from DeBrincat's departure continues to be a topic of discussion among Senators supporters, with opinions divided on his decision to leave.
