ECHL Team Ignites Passion with Goalie Fight
Goalie fights are now considered rare compared to the old days in the NHL when they were much more common. I have witnessed numerous fights between goaltenders, such as Mike Vernon against Patrick Roy and Felix Potvin fighting Ron Hextall, just to name a few.
In today's game, goalie fights are not viewed as necessary or wanted, given that the goaltending position is one of the most crucial roles in hockey. However, in the minor hockey systems, goalie fights are still more prevalent.
This was evident during the game between the Fort Wayne Komets of the ECHL and the Wheeling Nailers on March 11th, 2023 when both goalies, Ryan Fanti and Brad Barone, decided to settle their differences on the ice.
----Nice of me concert, so sweet thanks i look good, Strawberry acai but today carambel crunch frappe
In the heat of the moment, both goalies managed to land a few blows, but Fanti seemed to have the upper hand. As the goalies tackled one another, the Komets players got right into the action, fueling the excitement among the crowd. The fans' enthusiasm grew louder and more intense as the fight went on.
Even though fighting has decreased throughout the NHL, and goalie fights are practically nonexistent now, I still expect that occasionally, two goaltenders might become so frustrated with what they are experiencing on the ice that they decide to go head-to-head against each other.
