Fighting in the NHL still occurs from time to time when two players need to settle a score. Fighting across the league has significantly decreased as general managers and team owners move away from brawls and instead prefer skilled and talented players.

One rare type of fighting involves goalies and during a game in the ICEHL, an Austrian league with teams in Hungary, Italy, and Slovenia, a former NHL goaltender engaged in a fight with another goalie.

Niklas Svedberg spent several seasons with the Boston Bruins and their organization, along with a short stint with the Minnesota Wild. During his time with Boston, he played 19 games and had a record of 8-5-1, with a 2.3 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage. He never played a game with the Wild.

After a scrum was broken up, Rasmus Tirronen and Svedberg decided to meet at center ice and settle their differences. Several punches and jabs were thrown by both players, but nothing over the top.

Goalie fights in the NHL are extremely rare, and it has been several years since I've seen one while watching a hockey game.

Such fights are typically discouraged by team ownership since goaltenders are considered vital components of an NHL team, and they do not want to see them get injured."
