It was good news bad news for the Carolina Hurricanes Wednesday night. The good news they took a 2-0 lead In their best of seven series with the New York Islanders.
The bad news they lost one of their top players for the playoffs in Teuvo Teravainen. As Teravainen sustained an injury due to an unpenalized slash by New York Islanders forward, Jean-Gabriel Pageau, during a Hurricanes power play in the third period of Game 2. However, despite this setback, the Hurricanes managed to win the game 4-3 in overtime, taking a 2-0 lead in the series.
According to Brind'Amour, Teravainen will require hand surgery on Thursday and as a result, will be unable to participate in the remainder of the Hurricanes' Eastern Conference quarterfinal playoff series against the Islanders.
