Ex- Chicago Blackhawks Goaltender Officially Finds a New Home Outside of The NHL

Longtime NHL goaltender Anton Khudobin has secured a fresh start by signing with Sokol Krasnoyarsk in Russia's second-tier league, the VHL.

Khudobin's move to Sokol Krasnoyarsk is a likely indicator of his NHL career drawing to a close. The decision doesn't come as a surprise, given his limited NHL appearances in the past two seasons. In the 2022-23 season, he played just one game for the Chicago Blackhawks, facing 23 shots and conceding six goals.

Despite the recent challenges, Khudobin established himself as a reliable backup goalie for the majority of his NHL journey. He notably played a pivotal role in the Dallas Stars' deep run during the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs, showcasing his goaltending prowess. Although the Stars fell short in the Stanley Cup Final, Khudobin's contributions were noteworthy.

Khudobin's NHL career spanned 260 games, during which he represented the Minnesota Wild, Boston Bruins, Carolina Hurricanes, Dallas Stars, and Chicago Blackhawks. His record of 114 wins, 92 losses, and 33 ties, along with a save percentage of .916 and a goals-against average of 2.52, underscore his competence between the pipes.

As Khudobin embarks on a new chapter in the VHL, his legacy as a dependable goaltender in the NHL remains intact.
