P.K Subban is quite the interesting player when it comes to statistics compared to his earnings, Subban was a dominant defenseman for multiple teams starting with the Montreal Canadiens and lead to multiple elite performances with different franchises such as the Nashville Predators, and.... that is about it. Subban was signed to a long term $9.5 million per season deal, and since he has slowly declined from a 5-60 point season defenseman to a 10-20 points per season, truly a perfect example of players underperforming once they signed a gold mine of a contract.

Subban is currently a free agent as his $9.5 million dollar deal has expired after his last season with the New Jersey Devils, no teams have budged on talks with Subban or his agent yet- why? Well, if Subban is expecting similar money to his last, nobody will be interested whatsoever.

Subban is at that point in his career where he has to realize he is aging and may need to take a pay cut to be with a good team due to his lack of high-level performance for the past 4 or 5 years.

PK's agent Don Meehan stated the following:

"P.K. just came back from vacation and I talked to him today about the free-agency marketplace and I've indicated to him that we've had expressions of interest,»
Meehan said.
«I've told him that there are teams moving money assessing what kind of cap space they have, analyzing their depth scenarios to determine just exactly what they can do. Some of these issues are in play as we speak, so I can't get a definitive response from some teams in terms of moving ahead, but I have had expressions of interest for him to date. But the teams that have expressed interest aren't in a position to offer a contract now because they've got other things in play."

"He wants to play, I can tell you that,»
Meehan added.
«But I think at this stage in his career he would want to play somewhere that would provide a good opportunity for him. Without sounding too aggressive, I think he's earned the privilege to be somewhat selective in terms of where he would play so that it works for the team and it works for him. In other words, he doesn't just want to play anywhere. He has that measure of independence.»

David Pagnotta insider for the Fourth Period and also the NHL network host reports that Subban may need to sign a short term "prove it" deal if he wants to sign with a contender- which is exactly how we predicted.
